Dyckia Grape Jelly
A thorny succulent plant possibly hardy to as low as -5c if kept dry. Plants for sale at least 15cm diameter
Dyckia are stunning and rare terrestrial bromeliads! Largely unknown in the UK. or surely many more people would grow them? Growing a good 45cm across and producing clumps. Flowers of pale orange are produced too on stems up to 90cm tall in early summer. Very stiff and strongly spined leaves darken in the full sun required for this plant. Needs hardly any watering and none November to March. If growing outside permanently it will need protecting from wet like an agave. I must confess I bring mine indoors to a unheated polytunnel for the winter as I find this easy.
